There are charities and statutory services to support you in every community-therapy is not the only way to receive support.   

  • Breathing Space: free telephone support for people who need to talk freely to a listening ear with no judgment.
  • NHS24: Access to advice from health professionals and referrals available to escalate and prioritise cases when necessary.  Call 111
  • Samaritans: Free helpline for those who need to talk or need support in crisis.  Call 116123
  • SAMH: support for those with mental health concerns.  Call 0344 800 0550
  • Health in Mind: Scottish charity offering a range of services and activities to all who need help with mental health.
  • Thistle Foundation: One-to-one support, wellbeing courses, community groups for anyone struggling with their mental health.
  • Young Minds: Supporting all young people with their mental health.
  • MindOut: Mental Health services and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

I have found yoga and mindfulness to be incredibly powerful tools to support and nurture my nervous system. I am a trained yoga teacher and have completed a Yoga Alliance accredited 200 hour training, an additional yoga training led by Amy Carmody and several other yoga courses: yin, restorative and kids yoga.
 
 Life can be busy and we rush around potentially ignoring signals from our body to slow down and listen.  Gentle mindful movement can be a surprisingly powerful way to shift our thoughts and feelings-to tune into potential dissociations and to be in our bodies rather than in our minds.  Mindfulness can sound trite or like the latest buzz word as external circumstances can be so all encompassing that paying attention to the body can seem like a drop in the ocean.  Yet, mindfulness has been proven over and over again by researchers to have powerful effects.
